The College of Dentistry of King Saud University was founded in 1395H (1975G), it was the first dental school ever established in the Arab Gulf Region. The College of Dentistry is an integral part of the collegiate system of King Saud University which began operation in 1377-1378H (1957-1958G). An essential service to the Kingdom was undertaken by the University in 1389-1390H (1969-1970G) with the establishment of the College of Medicine. The commencement of dental education six years later was therefore a logical expansion of the objectives of providing extensive total health care in the Kingdom as enunciated in the Development Programs of the College at the time.
